About us

C.I.T: Safety Inspection Training

CIT Ghana Ltd is qualified by the US-Based Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau

In 2004, Pasico Ghana Ltd., dealers for Grove the only manufacturer representative actively supporting mobile cranes in Ghana, was asked by Goldfields Ghana Ltd. certify a Grove AT1100 crane to a recognisable international standard following a rebuild. At the time the only Ghanaian mandatory inspection or certification was applicable to electric overhead travelling cranes and not suitable for mobile hydraulic cranes.
After some discussions with Goldfields and subsequently Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd. we settled on implementing the US OSHA standard within Ghana.
Subsequently Pasico engaged in a partnership with Crane Inspection and Certification Bureau of the US to train and accredit our engineers as inspectors. The first Thorough Annual Inspection was completed in November 2004.
Within a short timescale most mine sites and mining contractors had implemented the Pasico Through Annual Inspection as mandatory on any site.

Accreditation of inspectors must be refreshed every two years. Pasico took the opportunity of adding additional crane safety services to our portfolio during the refresher courses, including operator training, load testing, rigging inspection, rigger training and lift planning.
During this time there was a noticeable improvement in safety standards and accidents that had once been common became rare events.
In response to market demand, particularly with the arrival of the Oil Industry in Takoradi, CIT extended the scope of certifications to encompass the requirements of the UK based LOLER/PUWER regulations.
